New iMac at work! Whee! (If you'd seen our old Mac, you'd understand my excitement, even though I really don't know what I'm doing with a Mac.) I managed to get Snood installed first thing and email on the desktop, so we're all set here now. And we have Instant Messenger here, too! Though I think I'm going to stick with my alternate SN here (InspectorLizzard) and not use Lizzardie.

So I haven't updated in a really long time. I should be able to do a pretty thorough update right now, though, because things are pretty dead here. It's the first day of classes, and incidently, my first day back at the CTA (if you couldn't tell by the stuff above), so there's not a whole lot going on. I guess I'll go way back in time and tell you what I've been up to the past, uhh, 3 weeks.

So everyone should know that I went back to good ol' Romeoville for a week. My second cousin's Christening went really well - Tricia actually made me the Godmother, which came as a huge surprise 3 days beforehand (her brother, Tim, is the Godfather). It was kinda weird to see the whole family in church, too. But I love that church, so it was nice that the ceremony was held there. Afterwards, my whole family was at my house. I mean my WHOLE family (and for those of you who know my family....). It was relatively quiet, but definitely tense, and afterwards, EVERYONE was bitching about how they had been treated. Such is life. If I have to hear all this on my wedding day, I may move to some remote location and never talk to any of them again.

The rest of home was okay. Driving there was definitely a good decision, despite the length of the drive and how tired it made me. I was able to go where I wanted when I wanted to, and didn't have to fight with Kim over a car. Yay for my car. I ate really well, too. My dad made me a giant steak (it was about an inch thick!) and we went to Braxton's with my grandparents where I got this really yummy Lobster and Shrimp Pan Roast. Soooo good. You know the food was good when I think it's important enough to talk about, right? And there was Starbucks and Chili's, as always. =) I think I gained 10 pounds while I was home, and then I had to come back to my one course meals here in Ithaca (last night it was corn on the cob - that's all).

I saw some friends, but not a lot. I had coffee with Jaime and Amy on Wednesday, and then Rachel and I had coffee and frolicked about the mall on Friday (I really can't think of a better word than that for what we did - neither of us bought anything, and I don't think the phrase "window shopping" does us justice). And then I drove back to Ithaca, with Shelly (who was a very fun car companion, and I'll admit, not having to do ALL the driving definitely was good (though I did do most of the driving - had to use that newly re-obtained license). Speaking of, I got my license renewed! Only exciting because of the recently ended suspension, because we all know that sitting in the DMV for an hour is NOT fun. Family pictures, too, to eventually be posted on my website, once I get them scanned.

And I've been back for a week and a half now. Last week was my last week of work at NYPIRG. I also had to take care of getting a ton of stuff stored in my apt out before Susan came back, since I was using her room. She's so great for allowing that, and I hope everyone else appreciates my generosity. Not much else happened last week, that I can remember (so it must not be so memorable).

This week I've been sooooo busy. I had so many things to do before school got under way, because we all know that I won't get any of it done now that I'm in class again. I'm going to try and not stay up until all hours of the night this semester/year, but we'll see how long that lasts. I'm taking 6 classes (20 credits) plus there's all the PSP and CPC stuff (I've already had meetings for both - let the games begin). Today's classes were.... eh. I had both physics lecture and section (we all know how much I hate physics, too). I'm glad that I only have physics 2 days a week this semester (last semester of physics) because I get to do OR the rest of the time! Yay! Well, as much yay as can be hoped for, I suppose. I also had OR 580 today, and that was decent. We did a puzzle. There will be group work, though, and we all know that I hate group work (I don't work well in groups, and it doesn't able me to do my homework at the time I want to). Ahh well. More classes tomorrow, but not until 11:15! Fridays are the only days I don't start at 9am.

Other than that, I guess I can say that things are good here. As much as it sucks to be getting up at 7:30am again, I'm really glad to be seeing my friends again. =) I miss my friends who have graduated, too - I'm a senior now - where did the time go? And things will be busy this semester, as always now, but I'm looking forward to it. Optimism - it's such a good thing to have, because it makes dealing with stuff so much easier. I'm really really looking forward to having a kickass senior year - here's to not letting anything get in my way! =)

I'll have a real post about home and such later, but I think I'm ill (sore throat, swollen glands, very very tired) so not right now. Right now I will go and watch Harry Potter with my sisters.

Correction: Samuel Adams makes Cherry Wheat.

Okay, so I'm not very sober and it's my birthday. I figured a post was in order. Only typing takes a lot of energy. So this post will not be very long. Only I thought I'd let you all know what my 21st birthday drinking celebration consisted so here goes (and backspace is my new best friend, just so you all know):
Bars: Ruloff's, Bear Lodge, Chapter House, in that order
Drinks: Amaretto Sour, Gin and Tonic, Jolly Rancher, Screwdriver, Cherry Wheat Bear (I think from Ithaca Beer) (in that order).

I need sleep now.

I just noticed that I've been feeling nostalgic all summer. I don't think I'll be changing that any time soon, especially considering I said goodbye to Jamie on Monday and Bolcar today. Boo. =( Jamie made some delicious baklava, though, so that was a plus. Crystal and I went yesterday to get a card and present for her (a purple Ithaca Is Gorges shirt) and we also got a card for Will, too, since he's going to miss Jamie lots and we can already tell. In return Will bought flowers for both me and Crystal last night. Isn't that sweet? I love flowers.

I have Crystal staying at my place until she flies home to Florida tomorrow. The apt is feeling much fuller, but I just called her and she's informed me that I'm getting birthday alcohol. I have a feeling that this won't be the first of that, but hey, I'm not complaining. =) I'm going out tomorrow night! Yay! Amy's in town, so I finally have someone around who's 21! Yippee! She said that we'll do the same bar crawl she did, only we'll probably do it backwards so that we can end up at the Chapter House (she started there) so that we can be close to my apt at the end (probably a very good idea).

And then, home. I talked to my cousin the other day, and she informed that the only reason that her baby is being baptized this weekend is because of me. Apparently, my Pastor was really hesitant to do it, but her husband reminded her that I've been to church when I've been home from school. So.... because I go to church sporadically, my cousin is a very very happy person. It's very strange. And my whole family will be at my house Sunday (for those of you that know my family drama, yes, even the parts of the family that aren't speaking). Here's to hoping that I'll make it to Monday without killing myself and so I can therefore chill with my friends this coming week. Who'll be around? Anyone, anyone?

Here's me, here's updating more regularly.... I hope you're all happy now.

It was the group outting to Darien Lake yesterday. It was a lot of fun, though I'll admit that I'll always be partial to the Six Flags at home (it's been so long since I've been to Great America....). I guess I can't complain, though, considering it only cost us 10 dollars to get into the park in May and they gave us free passes to get in again (which is what we used yesterday) since the park was only open for 3 hours or so. We probably rode as many rides in May as we did yesterday, since the first time there were no lines and the second time we were there all day. It was a beautiful day, too - I'm not a bit sunburnt, but not too bad so I won't compain.

My birthday is in 5 days. I swear, too, that everyone who is 21 has left Ithaca. It's very unfortunate to have an August birthday, I've decided. No one is around! I need people to take me out drinking! Please!

I'm done whining about that now. Lowkey party Friday (my actual birthday) maybe? Seems like a good idea for the day before I drive 12 hours to Illinois.

I totally forgot yesterday, I was going to post a joint Herb-Bolcar (Herbcar, they would say, of course) quote. I'll post it now and maybe it'll go on the Phi Sigma Pi quote page (once I get around to gathering the quotes), because they want it immortalized, if I remember correctly. It'll also go on my quotes list that pulls one randomly for my home page. This is good, because I definitely need a quote from the two of them, since there isn't one and they've both gone and graduated. So here it is:

(During poker on Tuesday):
Herb: "My deck is stiffer than yours."
Bolcar: "That's because it doesn't get played with as much."

They'll both be happy to have this in some form of writing now, I'm sure.

Liz is a loser who never updates. Now that I've gotten that out.... I really actually hate that I don't update all that often, because I always forget the things that I want to say, and I feel like my updates then end up being a list of things that I've done, and that's really not the purpose of this. Argh.

Anyway, so the past week.... more eventful things include going to Bolcar's house in PA for his graduation party. His family was hilarious, I drank a lot of wine (quote Mr. Bolcar: "I'm depressed, I need a beer") and I won 2 dollars in poker. =) All in all, a good time. Then there was the whole Herb's car situation. This kinda happened before PA and after. So I look outside Friday to see signs near Nelly saying that there's no parking there, roadwork, yadda yadda yadda. And poor Nelly has no battery and I have no key. So I spend all day agonizing, because I don't want the car to get towed, considering I'm figuring Herb won't get back to Ithaca for at least a month and I said I'd watch over the car, etc... But no good solution presents itself, so all I can think to do is let his family know about it (by IMing his sister) and the next morning (before watching the car be towed) I found out where it was being towed to. Sunday night, though, lo and behold I get an IM from Herb, who has miraculously emerged from the woods, found out about his car and plans to head out to Ithaca are underway. All that worrying about the car being impounded for a month was for nothing. Geez.

The past coupla days have been lots of hanging out. My license became valid again, so I've begun driving a little faster. Hehehehe. It's so nice to know that yeah, getting pulled over again would be bad, but at least I can't be convicted of a misdemeanor for it anymore! Crystal and I were going to go out driving Monday night (midnight, July 30, which is after July 29, the last day of the suspension) but I wound up falling asleep on her couch, so I just went home and went to bed instead. I then proceeded to sleep until 1pm and was late to work. Who starts work at 1pm and oversleeps??? Ridiculous. The past two days have involved some chillin' though, with me losing 2 dollars in poker last night and rewatching Spy Game tonight (which was so much better the second time, but probably because of added interpretation).

All right, done with that part of the update. I really want to get to bed real soon, but first a few thoughts. I just wanted to say that I really need to learn that small problems tend to have simple solutions. If I just look for the simple solution, maybe I'll actually find it. AND, there are some things that I just need to learn to let go of. I think that this is a big problem of mine, in that I invent these fantasy situations, and never want to lose hope that one of them (all of them) will come true, so I hold onto everything, even if it's now in the past. It needs to stop, and I think that right now, I'm doing an okay job of dealing with that. Of course, the ridiculous amount of Mint Oreo ice cream that I'm eating may have something to do with that. Who knows.
