I have an open bottle of 2003 Ascheri Barbara d'Alba and it's Friday night, which means lots of sleep. Sounds like a good time to update (as if I do that anymore).

Let's see... it was both Restaurant Week in Boston AND Employee Appreciation Week at work. Which ended up meaning I missed the barbeque to go to Mamma Maria, which of course was fabulous, just like last year. Buffalo mozzarella and heirloom tomato salad, spinach spaghetti with shrimp and corn, and blueberries with champagne zambaglione sauce - SO YUMMY. Let's not forget about the bottle of 2001 Zenato Valpolicella! Susan, Cheryl and I also sat upstairs this year on the "porch" next to a large open window (it's a converted townhouse) - so nice. Made me happy. And I needed that.

Tuesday night I had dinner with Karen - our last dinner before she leaves for California (like, tomorrow). I really miss those dinners - it was so nice having Karen so close by this past year. I wish I'd gotten to know her sooner while we were in Ithaca, because she's a really great person. I'll have to visit her and Ian and Eric out in the San Francisco/Davis/Sacramento/Napa/Sonoma area. Man, that would be a great visit - I bet there would be poker AND wine (but much better than the Cayuga Lake "Wine Cards" thing). :-)

Saturday I went to Nashua for Corinne's graduation party. Not too many people there that I knew (lots of Corinne's older relatives) but still a good time. Badminton (her neice has been taking tennis lessons and it shows - and she's only 6!), Quoits (not sure if I'm spelling that correctly), lots of yummy food and fun favors - I got a tea light holder that looks like a bug! Corinne brought out the baby pictures, too, which was cute. AND, she's moving to like 2 miles away from me this weekend, so I'm glad there will be someone new in the area.

Working my way backward.... Thursday I went to the Patriots preseason game with Kathy. Her brother and his friend have season tickets, and her brother lives near the stadium... so discounted good seats (in the end zone) and free parking (plus free dinner) - good times. Would have been better if the Pats had beat the Saints, but I still had a great time. We even walked through the woods and then on the train tracks to get there.

Still backward... Jaclyn's wedding. I gotta say, it was beautiful. All of the weddings I've been to have been so different, but still so wonderful. Jaclyn went very very traditional... from her simple strapless dress to the amazingly beautiful old hotel it was in. Only complaint (but not really)... where were the single men? I also got to see some people I hadn't seen in a long time - Betsy and Rebecca (from Jaclyn's sorority), Lori, Lanna and Jen (Jaclyn's friend from home), plus of course Amy (even though I saw her last in April). I didn't have high hopes for my trip to Albany, but it was nice. And I got to wear a beautiful pink dress!

And the last thing for tonight - my 24th birthday. I actually was not looking forward to this at all. For some reason, I was feeling anti-birthday and anti-celebratory with anybody. But I got a slew of attention - four ecards (Dan, Beta Nu, Julie, Herb), two text messages (Corinne and Shelly), several IMs (Seth, Demetri, Kathy), a phone call (Kate), presents from my parents and my grandparents, actual cards from my roommate, Jamie, and Alexis (all the way from Chicago!).... plus, Susan made me dinner (salmon, asparagus and wild rice, plus a wonderful triple-layer cake with raspberries inside). It was nice to get the attention, most definitely. And I'm not yet 25 (unlike many of my friends here)! So there's that, too.

All right, that's all, I think, for interesting things happening to me. I've been playing poker every week, which is becoming the norm. I like it because of the routine (something to look forward to, just like the old poker night), no risk of losing money (but prizes!), friends sometimes (well, and Herb is almost always there), and I'm forced to interact with people I don't know. So yay for that. :-)

Next weekend: The Poconos! Definitely looking foward to the time away, three day weekend, and fun with friends. Despite the fact that it definitely appears that I've been getting out a lot, I've been in quite a funk and I need to shake it!
