All of the pictures from the weekend/Scott and Julie's wedding are up on Flickr, in case you're interested.
The wedding was lovely. It was outdoors, at basically a country club with lots of yachts near the shore. The weather was perfect. Some personal touches made it really special, everything went well and it looked like Scott and Julie had a wonderful time. The "international coffee station" was my favorite touch - coffee with whatever kind of booze you could think to mix it with (I had coffee and Godiva liquor, with a touch of Bailey's).
I generally enjoyed my brief trip to New Jersey. Dan came up to where I was to visit Saturday night, and while we couldn't find a diner (someone tell me how this is possible), we did have a nice drive looking for one (there are some really nice houses in that area) and dinner in what appeared to be downtown Red Bank was pleasant enough. Meeting up with Kathy, Demetri, et al. was at first hard to coordinate, but we eventually all agreed to drive out to Point Pleasant and hang out on the boardwalk. I'm happy to have been able to go to "The Shore" while I was there (plus custard and salt water taffy, though no skee ball). Seth drove me back to my hotel, so that Dan could head back south to his dad's. And then the wedding Sunday. I had gotten a ride to New Jersey from Corinne and Ron, and we agreed to take Demetri back to New Rochelle on our way home. We stopped to buy Yuengling on our way out.
And that's when the trip turned disastrous.
Okay, that's maybe a little too dramatic. Traffic on the Garden State Parkway was horrendous, though, and it took us 4 hours to leave New Jersey. Demetri felt terrible (we would have gone a different way, getting us out of some of the traffic, if we weren't bringing him home), Ron was cranky, Corinne was quiet and I was terribly uncomfortable with no leg room. The ride was smooth sailing after the GW Bridge (Demetri took us by way of the Henry Hudson, where there was no traffic, unlike 95, and then we took the Merritt through Connecticut), but I didn't get home until 1:30am (we left the reception at 5:00pm, when it ended). That is not how Sunday was supposed to go.
But now it's over! And it's HOT in New England this week. But, good news, Steph owns an air conditioner and has no qualms about using it, so I installed mine (which hasn't been used in nearly 3 years) last night, and am so happy I did. I may be spending more time in my room in the next coupla days. :-P
