All right, so I know it’s been awhile. January has been a pretty busy month, some good, some bad. When I last left you all, I have having a pretty rough week. Things in my apartment were bad, I wasn’t happy at work, etc… That weekend, I went to Foxwoods and played poker at a casino for the very first time (2-4 limit). It was fun, but I lost $102 (plus $20 lost on Bingo, which I will never do again).

But the next week, things got better. I won the heat battle with my roommate, I had a good, productive week at work, and I won a good chunk of cash in a late night poker game (though I was dead tired the next day).

The rest of the month has been so-so. Work seems okay, but it remains to be seen, I think. Things were back to normal in the apartment, but my roommate told me Sunday that she’s moving out March 1st – now I need to start hunting for a roommate and prioritize the things I need to buy with Jamie gone (maybe a couch?). Things have been pretty decent other than that – still playing poker every Wednesday (I won last week), Dim Sum, Chinese food, Risk, the Bears are in the Super Bowl this coming weekend (I ordered deep dish pizza from Chicago to celebrate the occasion), and knitting is, of course coming along.

Speaking of knitting, here is the exciting thing I’ve wanted to post about (but haven’t had a chance to, yet). I decided to go ahead and create a knitting blog. There are a few reasons for this, but the biggest thing is that I want to be better about documenting my projects – what I made, what I used, how long I took, what modifications I made, etc… - and that’s just not interesting to most of you, I think. It is, however, interesting to many people in the knitting world, and I might as well try and participate. I’ve been spending some time lately getting it to where I want it to be (hence the lack of posting here), and I think it’s now ready to be introduced to the rest of the world. So, if you want to hear all about my knitting, you should visit that blog. That’s not say there will be no knitting content here – it is, after all, a part of my life – but I’ll probably scale it down some. And if you just want to browse through the pictures, they’ll still be up on Flickr.

Here’s the knitting blog: Lizzardie Knits. It’s not original, I know, but that’s me.

The only other thing of interest is that, as I’m sure many of you heard, there was a series of bomb scares in Boston yesterday. It turned out that the “bombs” were part of a marketing campaign by Turner Broadcasting for Aqua Teen Hunger Force. Now, if you don’t live here or if you heard about this incident after it was all said and done, it probably sounds hilarious. And I know that many people wonder how anyone could have mistaken these things for bombs. But for those of us that were impacted – even just a little – by it, nothing was really funny, and it was a rather ominous day. It took Corinne two hours to get into work yesterday because they shut down the Orange Line (and a friend of mine from poker goes to the T station where it all started, so she was there), then they shut down the Red Line (which is how I get to and from work), and then one of these billboards was found 2 blocks from my work (which is where I was all day). I’m not really upset by what happened – it’s good to know that while I heard traffic was a nightmare, the authorities responded quickly and took the matter seriously. And as far as Turner Broadcasting goes, I’m not really upset with them, either, and actually feel sorry for the two guys who have been arrested. I just think that perhaps some though should have gone into following city guidelines about permits and such and being aware that placing these things on infrastructure may not have been the best idea. That’s all.
