There's a thunderstorm outside. I like thunderstorms a lot more now that I'm not in the midwest and I don't have a sister around who's freaking about tornadoes every time it rains. It's not too bad now anyways, and the occasional lightning and thunder seems to fit my mood.

Let's see, the last time I updated, really, was April 30th, and a lot has happened since then. I wish I had been consistent in my writing, but I was super-busy. Since then I have:

  • Been to my last Cornell class
  • Driven to NYC for an interview at Rockefeller Center
  • Seen Amy and Vinny in the city, and gotten stood up by Demetri in Manhattan
  • Gotten slightly lost in New Jersey, and then had my car break down in Whitney Point
  • Gone to Boston to give my final presentation for my M.Eng project
  • Had a not-so-good rest-of-trip experience in Boston
  • Taken my last 3 Cornell finals
  • Participated in Spring Induction (yeah Upsilons!), Spring Formal, a kick-ass poker night where I won $35, Paintball, bowling with my littles, Wings Over Ithaca Buffet with Dan, dinner at the Boatyard Grill for the first time ever with Scott and Julie, and dinner and pina coladas with random PSP people
  • Purchased 8 bottles of wine on a whim
  • Purchased new pyjamas which are mad comfortable

I guess that about covers it. I'm done being a student now, though, and it's just a few short days until Graduation and moving away from Ithaca. It's a really weird feeling.

You can see that I've had quite a lot of fun times with friends over the past week or so, despite being really busy with finals/my project. I think I've needed the distraction of funness. I'm super stressed-out about something, and it's really those distractions that keep me going, because when I'm back in my apartment, there's always something that keeps reminding me of what's bothering me, and I don't feel there's anything else I can do right now that I haven't done already to fix it. I'm just waiting right now. And I want to feel happy and glad to be done with school, but I'm finding that a little difficult.

I'm really excited about moving to Boston, but I'm a little wary about my living situation. Then again, I'm thinking it's a good thing I won't be a guest in that apartment anymore, given how little fun I had the last time I was there (last weekend). I guess we'll see how it works out, and if I hate it, at least it's temporary. I do not want to hate it; my soon-to-be-roommates are good people, but I don't know - like I said, I'm wary.

So tomorrow I have an interview with Praxair in Buffalo. My aunt is really excited for me, but I can't say that I share her enthusiasm. Let me just say this - money is NOT the bottom line for me right now. It is much more important to me to enjoy where I'm living than to be making a huge amount of money. And I've already made up my mind, really, despite going through the motions of keeping my options open. All day I'm going to be thinking about how when I get back to Ithaca, I'll be drinking wine with Dan and Alexis and whoever else they've invited along. That will be good, but then again, just another distraction from what's really bothering me.

And then a week of packing. I brought a carload of stuff to Boston last week, and my room STILL looks full. I do not know how I accumulated so much stuff over the last 5 years, but I managed. There's still some stuff at my aunt's place in Buffalo, though at this point very little has remained in Illinois. Just some books really and random other stuff, really. Crazy. I think that there will be 3 cars to bring the rest of my stuff to Boston, and that's probably a good thing. Because I think I might have more stuff than I originally guessed. Ugh - where did it all come from? Maybe next week I'll be less tired and more in the mood to sort through and throw things away.

But for now, I'm tired and want to sleep. And since there will be so much driving tomorrow, I should do just that. One of my last 11 sleeps in Ithaca before moving away....
