So I'm back from Montreal. I had a pretty good time. Of course the highlight of the trip was the food.... I swear, that's all I ever want to do on vacation. My wallet is not thanking me, though. Helen and I joked that we're not eating again until summer! Alcohol a plenty, but I only drank moderately.... you know, every night at dinner, a beer in the hotel room, that's about it. Saw the Biodome, which was awesome, and went to the Sciencecenter for IMAX shows. Went to the casino, where I managed to win $22.75 (Canadian) on quarter slots, when I started with $20 (so I cashed out with $42.75)! Went to Chinatown for Bubble Tea. I'm glad to be back in the U.S., though, as I was getting a little nervous with all the impending war stuff - wasn't sure how much stricter customs would be, but the guy at customs was really nice. And I'm glad to be driving my car again! I like a small car so much better than a minivan!
I did learn one thing.... I think that I really need to take a day for myself. I do a lot of running around for other people, and I didn't sit well for me for my vacation. I need a chance to relax, too, and I'm just not giving myself that chance. Between driving both to and from Montreal and then sleeping on the floor the first night after driving to the casino and running to pay parking every day.... it wore me out. It's nice that everyone was definitely appreciative, but I'm still so tired.... so I'm looking to take a Liz Day. If anyone has any ideas on what I should do on my Liz Day, please let me know.
The next coupla days will be filled with cleaning and TV and homework (in order to get caught up for NERC) and oh yeah, NERC planning. Things are still going wrong left and right, but I'm still excited about our conference! It should be really good.
And I'll be in Queens this weekend! Yay for Vinny and Chris and Demetri (and free food at his dad's diner) and being in the city! That will hopefully be a lot of fun!
