Okay, I have about half an hour before I have to go to my next class, so I thought I would first fulfill my promise to clarify on what exactly is going on in my little world right now. Some of you know all this and will probably be bored to tears by this post, but others of you have no clue. Let me first mention that it is freezing in here. Isn't it almost June? Why is it so cold outside? Anyway, let me set the scene for you all. Picture it if you will. It's the beginning of Liz's sophomore year at Cornell U. She is quite content to come back to Ithaca and continue her pursuits of a B.A. in mathematics. She starts taking this math class. And realizes how much she hates the class. I mean, really, who needs all that theory? Certainly not Liz. Plus, she's certain that she doesn't deserve a passing grade because she isn't quite sure she's learned anything that semester, yet she receives more than a passing grade, she gets a decent grade on all of her tests and homeworks. She just doesn't understand. And then those other classes she's taking? They're useless. She'll never use psychology or anthropology. Why is she taking them? She realizes that she's going to have to take a lot more useless liberal arts classes the next 3 years in order to get her degree (no offense to those in the Arts school - it just turned out that it wasn't for Liz). Somewhere in the back of her mind, Liz remembered wanting to switch to an engineering program her freshman year, but that she'd dismissed the idea, as internal transfer has a reputation for being a pain in the ass. But maybe it wouldn't hurt to see if it was possible. So she went to the engineering advising center, and lo and behold, they said they would most likely let her transfer in as an Operations Research and Industrial Engineering major! Well, that's exactly what Liz wanted to do! They also mentioned this thing called the co-op program, where Liz could go and work for a company for about 7 months and get some experience in her field of study. So, Liz sent in an application to apply to be an OR major and signed up for the co-op program. Her application was approved, after a long February of job fairs and interviews, Liz landed a co-op position at Pitney Bowes (they make postage meters and other things having to do with mail - I have a feeling none of you knew that) in Stamford, CT. So, having just completed her sophomore year at Cornell, Liz is well on her way. She'll be in Ithaca all summer, taking her first semester junior year classes, so that she can go work at Pitney Bowes in the fall.

Phew, that's over! =) Yeah, so I'm really excited about working in the fall, and as many of you know, I've never been to CT before, so it will be a whole new experience for me! And so far, the so-called "co-op summer of hell" is treating me okay. I'm taking Financial and Managerial Accounting and Engineering Probability and Statistics II right now (350 and 360, for those who know what I'm talking about). I'll finish these classes and start 2 new ones at the beginning of July. I'm sad, because not only will I not be seeing my friends from home, I won't see most of my friends from school, as I'm in Ithaca when they're not and I'll be away when they're here. Luckily, though, I have enough friends around this summer that I'm not concerned at all about being lonely, and I'm sure I'll meet people in CT when the time comes.

So, I think that about does it for background information on the latest happenings in my life. Okay, it's far from the complete picture, but it does explain why I'm in Ithaca this summer and not in Romeoville (or somewhere else, working). I'll try and fill in the rest as time wears on, but I promise I won't post another one of these loooooong background things again - it's boring not only for you, but for me as well! Now I must go, as Acctg. section calls me.....
